i’ve been on the internet for a little over a decade…
i was, indeed: a wattpad reading directioner, an episode truther, a movie star planet wannabe, the coolmathgames connoisseur, a musical.ly lip syncer, thee girlsgogames girliepop—
i feel more and more like an auntie everyday, *which i kinda love.*
whereas the internet used to feel like a place to create and be apart of many different niche communities, it has now morphed into something almost unrecognizable:
an advertising landmine in an algorithmic hellscape based a hate filled field.
the point being, is that i have seen the rise and am now watching the fall.
but not all hope has been lost, dear reader.
here are five places on the internet that still feel like home:
1. cosmos
this is a site for people who like old pinterest.
cosmos is an add free photo mood boarding platform which gives users the ability to save quotes, images etc. dubbed elements, (pins), from all over the internet, which you can then add them into clusters (boards).
you are even able to search elements by color, and discover images that you would have never stumbled upon otherwise.

2. puzzmo
for all of my, fellow, girlsgogames and coolmathgames zealots, this is for you.
take a break from social networking and enter a place for jolly good fun;
puzzmo is a site that takes ten games and puzzles, some of which are traditionally found in your daily newspaper, and puts them online; there’s leaderboards, timed elements, and daily fun.
games available include: crossword, flipart, memoku, and really bad chess.
3. pi.fyi
the most perfectly imperfect place on the internet.
pi.fyi is the social networking side of the “cult favorite” substack newsletter: perfectly imperfect.
they describe themselves as: all the best parts of myspace, letterboxd, reddit, twitter, tumblr, and pinterest, combined them into the perfect site.
a great place to yap, share and receive recommendations, customize your profile to your exact liking, and be a part of a kind social networking community thriving in the otherwise chaotic ocean of the internet.

4. neal.fun
so i heard you like fun…
neal.fun is aptly described as: games and other stuff.
a place to ponder, learn, create, and play neil.fun is the digital arcade that you didn’t know you needed.
created by neal agarwal, neal.fun is a passion project for the ages where you can spend bill gates’ money, design the next iphone, launch astroids at major cities and much more.
5. the creative independent
the creative independent is a daily, ad-free, newsletter aimed at providing: a growing resource of practical and emotional guidance for creatives.
whether you are an intermittent, up-incoming, or full time creative, there’s always something new to learn on the creative independent.
there are interviews, wisdom, and stories from artists across disciplines, including: writers, musicians, designers, visual artists etc.
learning how to be creatively independent can be fun!
let’s keep making the internet a fun place to be, aether speakers.
sincerely, gail xxoo
